As the primary grantee, the Tata-Cornell Institute for Agriculture and Nutrition (TCI) is accountable for delivering project outcomes and overseeing the use of grant funds. Dr. Prabhu Pingali, Director of the TCI and Chair of the TARINA Steering Committee, assumes overall responsibility for the grant and heads a team of managers within the TCI that provides leadership and coordination for the project. Members of this team include:
- Dr. Bhaskar Mittra – Associate Director of the TCI and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Representative to the TARINA Steering Committee
- Dr. Nikhil Raj – Director of TARINA, Chair of the TARINA Management Committee and Ex-Officio Member/Secretary of the TARINA Steering Committee
- Dr. Surabhi Mittal – Coordinator of the TARINA Center of Excellence and Member of the TARINA Management Committee
Steering and Management Committees
TARINA is governed by a Steering Committee and Management Committee comprised of representatives from consortium partner organizations. The Steering Committee provides strategic leadership and direction to partners, while the Management Committee oversees the day-to-day operations and activities that contribute to the achievement of the project’s goal and objectives.
Project Management Unit
Headed by Dr. Nikhil Raj, the Project Management Unit (PMU) is dedicated to handling the day-to-day operations of TARINA, ensuring coordination and maximizing synergies among consortium partners. The PMU is also responsible for the M&E component of the project and for overseeing implementation of project activities across partners and field locations.
Center of Excellence
Headed by Dr. Surabhi Mittal, the Center of Excellence (CoE) is a multi-disciplinary team of scholars, policy analysts and development practitioners based in New Delhi that offers cutting-edge research and capacity for institutionalizing nutrition-sensitive agriculture in India. The CoE plays a key role in translating learnings from the TARINA project, acquired through research and field-based implementation, into a user-friendly collection of policy briefs, recommendations and best practices for a wide range of stakeholders.
