In May 2014, Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party won a landslide victory in India, ousting the Congress party and its allies from a decade long stint in power. It is now fifteen months since that remarkable outcome, a quarter of the way through the normal life of this parliament. These months have seen high expectations and a flurry of activity, including the first non-Congress budget for over a decade. A panel of Cornell Faculty will provide an economic and political assessment of this first phase of the Modi Government, and look ahead to whether it can indeed meet its high expectations.
